Welcome!
Kindergarten to Grade 2 teacher resources that are practical, evidence-based, and joy-filled — that’s what you’ll find here at Big World Teaching.

Hello! I’m Tess!
I am a teacher, blogger, curriculum designer, mum, and the creator behind Big World Teaching.
If you’re a Kindergarten (Prep/Foundation for all my Aussie friends!), Grade 1 or Grade 2 teacher who wants to bring more joy, clarity, and confidence to your classroom, you’re in the right place.
I know firsthand how overwhelming teaching can feel. Between endless to-do lists, changing curriculum demands, and the pressure to make learning meaningful and fun- it’s a lot.
That’s why I created Big World Teaching: to share evidence-based, research-backed resources and ideas that are easy to implement and bring genuine joy to you and your students.
A Bit About Me
I’m an Aussie teacher currently living and working internationally in Vietnam, where I teach at a PYP school and explore the world with my husband and daughter. I’ve taught in a range of settings – state, private, local, and international – and I bring those experiences into every blog post, product, and idea I share. You can read more about my international teacher adventures here.
I believe in:
💕 Simple strategies that work – because you shouldn’t have to reinvent the wheel to deliver great teaching.
🌱 Foundational skills done well – because strong literacy and numeracy skills set our students up for success.
💡 Inquiry-based learning – because curiosity is the spark that keeps kids engaged.
Whether you’re looking for phonics ideas, writing mini-lessons, engaging math centres, or creative ways to build classroom community, my goal is to give you practical tools that make teaching just a little lighter and a lot more joyful.
Let’s Learn and Grow Together
Teachers are some of the most generous, creative people I know and I love being part of a community that lifts each other up.
